CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center celebrated the release of the third edition of Historic Clarksville on Thursday during Noel Night, marking the first update to the community history book in 20 years.
The new edition, authored by longtime Clarksville journalist Jimmy Settle, follows the first volume published in 1984 and the second released in 2004. Settle said the idea for a third edition began when he received a call from Frank Lott, the museum director, who encouraged him to help document the many changes Clarksville has experienced over the past two decades.

Settle explained that a team of local researchers, writers and photographers helped bring the project together. The team divided the work into topic areas and spent nearly two years assembling the updated history. The new edition will be available in libraries across the region, including the Library of Congress and the Tennessee Historical Commission.
Copies of the book are available at The Museum Store or online. All proceeds support museum programs.
