CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northeast sophomore guard Braylon Jones has won Clarksville Now Player of the Week following his performance in the Eagles’ two games the week of Thanksgiving. Jones averaged 15 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals during the week, which included a big win over Clarksville rival Kenwood High School.
“It means a lot to win this award. In many ways, it reflects the hard work I put in over the summer and leading up to the start of the season,” Jones told Clarksville Now. “It feels great to be a part of a team that works hard every day as we get closer, day by day, to reaching our goals.”
The Eagles went 1-1 during the short week, losing a road battle at Station Camp but then rebounding to defeat Kenwood at home. Jones had nine assists against Kenwood to lead the way, to go along with two steals on defense, and most importantly, no turnovers. Up next, the Eagles travel to Dickson County for a region matchup on Thursday.
“Braylon has been a welcome addition to the team this year and has quickly emerged as a leader of our offense,” said Eagles head coach Ivard Brimley. “When athletes join a new program, it can sometimes be difficult to build strong connections with teammates, but this has not been the case for Braylon.
“He leads quietly through his actions on the court and sets an example for others to follow. We look forward to seeing all that he will continue to bring to the team throughout the rest of the season,” he said.
