Clarksville Police Sgt. Charles Gill said officers on the scene were stung multiple times.

According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), a 1999 Chevy Suburban driven by 33-year-old Antonio Lathon of Oak Grove, Ky was traveling westbound on I-24 in the left lane and approaching the state line. Lathon made an illegal left turn onto the median to cross over to the eastbound lanes.

A 1994 Chevy Tahoe towing a trailer with two motorcycles came up behind Lathon’s vehicle and swerved to the left to avoid a crash, but struck the Suburban as it was making the illegal turn. Lathon’s vehicle flipped upside down and the Tahoe towing the trailer jack-knifed and rolled onto its side.

The Tahoe traveled through the median and into the eastbound lanes where it was struck by the semi-truck hauling bees.

Lathon had minor injuries but did not need medical transport. The truck driver and the driver of the Tahoe were not injured, but a passenger had minor injuries.

Lathon was charged with driving on a suspended license, due care, and illegally crossing the median.
