CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – While there are no inner-city matchups for Clarksville-area high school football this week, there are still plenty of interesting contests. Let’s take a look at the matchups this week; all games are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday night.
Thursday night games
Kirkwood High Cobras (5-1) @ LaVergne Wolverines (0-6)
The Wolverines have had a rough go in the first few weeks of their season, playing in one of the hardest regions in the state of Tennessee, which features Oakland High and Blackman High.

Their schedule doesn’t get any easier, as LaVergne will now face the eighth-ranked team in class 5A, Kirkwood High School. The Cobras are coming off a victory over Dickson County, which earned Kirkwood quarterback Miles Reding Clarksville Now Player of the Week honors.
Clarksville High Wildcats (4-2) @ Siegel Stars (3-3)
A big Thursday night battle between two teams in 6A will go down under Thursday night lights. Clarksville High is on a heater entering the game, as they have won their last four games by multiple scores.
Meanwhile, Siegel has managed a respectable 3-3 record against a quality schedule, with wins coming against Cookeville, Smyrna, and Stewarts Creek.

Friday night games
Clarksville Now Game of the Week: Henry County Patriots (2-3) @ Northeast High Eagles (2-4)
The Patriots make a trip to Exit 1 on Friday for a region 7-5A showdown. The Patriots are 1-0 in region play this season, with their one victory coming against Dickson County by a score of 44-0.
Northeast is on a four-game losing skid after starting 2-0 and looks to get back on track with its first region win. The last time a team from Clarksville beat Henry County was 2012, when Northeast, coached by current Clarksville High head coach Issac Shelby, upset the Patriots.
Northwest High Vikings (2-4) @ Creek Wood Red Hawks (1-5)
In non-region action, the Vikings travel to Creek Wood High School for the second time this season to take on the Red Hawks. The Vikings played Dickson County and lost 45-19 on Creek Wood’s field during week five.
Dickson County is also the one common opponent these two foes share, with Creek Wood also losing to the Cougars, 24-23. Northwest is currently on a two-game losing streak after starting the season 2-2.
West Creek Coyotes (0-6) @ McGavock Raiders (1-5)
On paper, a game between two teams with one combined win may not look like a big game in region 7-6A; however, once you look deeper, there are severe implications of this matchup.
The Coyotes and Raiders each have three-region losses, which has come against the current top three teams in the region in Clarksville High, Antioch, and Rossview. This game could be a jumping point for either team to try to sneak into the playoffs as a four seed in 6A.
Maplewood Panthers (1-4) @ Kenwood High Knights (3-3)
After getting several key players back from injury, Kenwood has gotten back on track and evened their record at 3-3.
After spoiling Northwest’s homecoming last week, the Knights play host to the Panthers from Maplewood, who currently own a record of 1-4.

Maplewood won their season opener in dominant fashion, 46-6 over McGavock, but they have struggled ever since then. The Knights aim to have a winning record when the final buzzer sounds on Friday.
Clarksville Academy Cougars (3-3) @ Ezell Harding Eagles (3-3)
After a three-game skid, the Cougars got back in the win column against Montgomery Central last week. Now, the Cougars begin a four-game stretch of region opponents that will determine their playoff hopes.
The Cougars have a 0-2 region record, but the stretch starts with the Ezell Harding Eagles, who are also looking for their first region victory.
Rossview High Hawks (2-4) @ Cane Ridge Ravens (2-3)
After a 0-4 start, the Hawks are back in the saddle, with a two-win streak, and a 2-1 record in region play to slate them third in region 7-6A.
This week marks their third of four straight region games, as they travel to metro-Nashville to face Cane Ridge. The Ravens are currently fourth in the region standings.
Montgomery Central Indians (1-5) @ Battle Creek Grizzlies (1-5)
The first region contest of the season for the Indians sends them to Battle Creek, where the Grizzlies are in their first season as a program.
Battle Creek has no seniors on their roster and have not won a region game in their three attempts. The Indians will look to start region play 1-0 and make a run at the postseason.
PENDING: Trigg County Wildcats (1-5) @ Fort Campbell Falcons (3-3)
The Trigg County Wildcats are scheduled to travel to Fort Campbell for a big region game this Friday; however, the contest may have to be forfeited due to the current government shutdown. Clarksville Now will provide updates as we receive them.
