CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Rossview High Hawks celebrated senior night on Tuesday night against the West Creek Coyotes and while there were several close sets, the Hawks sent their seniors out in style with a 3-0 sweep.
Rossview came out with lots of energy, dominating the first set 25-16, highlighted by a 6-0 run midway through the set. The Coyotes rallied to make the second set more interesting, however, the Hawks pulled away late, winning 25-21 and taking a commanding two sets to none lead.

“We came off a pretty bad loss yesterday, so our girls came out ready to swing,” said Rossview assistant coach Lindsey Berlin. “We’ve been working to improve on finishing sets, and we saw that our girls really pulled through when it got close tonight. Very proud of them for being able to pull through and finish.”
While they were down two sets to none, the Coyotes refused to quit as they stormed out of the gates to a 6-0 lead in the third set.
Rossview rallied, and the third set went back and forth between the two squads with West Creek’s Madelyn Holloway and Rossview’s Ellie Hankemeier matching one another kill for kill.
When the set ended, Rossview got the last ball to hit the floor, and they won 25-23 completing the sweep of the Coyotes to celebrate their senior night. Despite the loss, West Creek head coach Sarah Rike is optimistic about her team going into the last few weeks before the postseason.
“We showed a lot of heart, we made some adjustments, and the girls kept fighting,” Rike said. “That game could have gone either way, but I’m proud of my girls. We love to compete, and we’re almost right there where we need to be. Our biggest obstacle is ourselves, but I’m going into the postseason fully confident. We haven’t peaked yet, and I’m excited to see how good we are in October.”
As for Rossview, it’s a big bounce-back win on their home floor, and one that the Hawks hope to use to propel them forward going into the last few games.
“We can’t let up,” Berlin told Clarksville Now. “We’ve talked to them all year about having a next point mentality, and even when we’re behind, to keep fighting. We want to play as a team and pull it together one point at a time.”
