CLARKSVILLE, TN – Dr. Stefan Woltmann, an Austin Peay State University professor of biology and Director of the Center of Excellence for Field Biology, will be the featured speaker at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center’s “Sundays at 3” lecture series from 3-4 p.m. on Sept. 7.

The lecture, entitled “Birds In Flight: The Mysteries & Challenges of Understanding Bird Migration,” will provide an overview of advances in our understanding of bird migration and highlight the technological advances that have allowed researchers to track individual birds over long distances.

Woltmann has been interested in migration and full annual life cycles of birds throughout his career. In July of 2024, his leadership helped Austin Peay join an international network of automated radiotelemetry stations to track individual birds across their entire migration paths.

The lecture will take place at the Customs House’s Turner Auditorium. Admission is free to the public, but does not include museum admission. To secure your spot, register here.
