Update, 3:45 p.m.: Detectives with CPD’s Special Operations Homicide Unit, along with the Crime Scene Unit, worked through the night investigating the homicide.
The investigation reveals that the incident began as a planned meeting between two groups, which escalated into a shootout. One person from each group was struck by gunfire, resulting in their deaths. The victims have been identified as 18-year-old Noah William Peterson and 24-year-old Makhi Charon Richardson, both of Clarksville.

Detectives have charged two people with tampering with evidence.
Update, 8:30 a.m.: Investigators have determined the two shootings are connected, with the initial shooting occurring in the parking lot behind Mizu Japanese Cuisine, according to Beaubien.
Both victims died as a result of their injuries. Their identities are being withheld pending next-of-kin notifications.
This was an isolated incident, Beaubien said. The investigation is active and ongoing. CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Two people were injured by gunfire at around 7:30 Tuesday night, and police have not yet determined if the shootings were connected.
At about 7:25 p.m., Clarksville Police responded to a shooting at Mizu Japanese Cuisine, 1525 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound. They immediately performed CPR until medical personnel arrived. The victim was transported to Tennova Healthcare, and his condition has not been released.
About 10 minutes later, at 7:35 p.m., a second 911 call was received from a woman on Cabot Cove reporting that someone was on their way to her home with a gunshot wound. Officers responded to that location and found a male victim. They performed CPR until medical personnel arrived; his status has not been released.
At this point, these are two separate, active investigations. Police have not determined if they are related, Beaubien told Clarksville Now.
