CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery County Commission met Monday for their formal meeting, which included voting on and approving a series of resolutions. Here’s the top three takeaways.

1. $2 million toward stormwater improvements

In a resolution looking to amend the 2025-26 fiscal year budget, Montgomery County proposed for $2 million to be allocated toward a stormwater improvement project near Exit 8. This comes after heavy flooding affected the area, such as in the Farmington subdivision and properties along Dunlop Lane.

During last Monday’s meeting, Mayor Wes Golden said that the Industrial Development Board has sold property near Exit 8, and the county’s proceeds will be what is allocated toward the stormwater improvement project.

“As our residents continue to recover, we want them to know they are not alone,” Golden previously told Clarksville Now. “We also want to assure residents that we now have a budget allocation on the table to support long-term solutions to manage stormwater in the hardest-hit unincorporated areas of the county, and we won’t stop until those solutions are in place.”

Tthe county is set to invest $2 million in improving their stormwater infrastructure in the area following the County Commission’s unanimous approval of the consent agenda Monday night.

2. Hankook donating $10,000 for Fire Service

Another resolution proposed this month was the County Commission accepting the donation of $10,000 from Hankook Tire Manufacturing to go toward needed equipment for the Montgomery County Fire Service. This resolution was also a part of the consent agenda, which was approved unanimously.

The equipment is a set of thermal imaging cameras, and Fire Chief Michael Rios previously told Clarksville Now the cameras will be used to upgrade the older technology his department uses in a few of their vehicles.

Specifically, Rios said the funds would be used to acquire two Flir K55 Thermal Imaging Cameras.

3. Animal Care and Control receives $4,000 grant

The County Commission also voted on and approved a resolution allowing Montgomery County Animal Care and Control to receive grant funds in an amount of $4,000.

The resolution said that the grant dollars comes from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the goal will be waiving and discounting adoptions fees for cats and dogs adopted in October 2025, as well as covering make-ready costs for the adoptions and potential staffing costs and related expenses for an adoption event.

“The Montgomery County Animal Care and Control is proud to receive an ASPCA grant and partner with Wyatt Johnson Subaru for the Subaru Loves Pets Event,” said MCACC Director Dave Kaske. “Each October, Subaru partners with local animal shelters to support pet adoption efforts, as part of a nationwide effort to support pet adoptions and animal welfare. This partnership has a lasting impact on our community by helping more animals find loving homes and raising awareness about responsible pet ownership.”

Wyatt Johnson Subaru said that they are proud to announce their participation in the annual Subaru Loves Pets Month this October, as well as partnering with MCACC to help local shelter pets find their forever homes.

“Throughout the month of October, Wyatt Johnson Subaru will shine a spotlight on the pets that are often overlooked, such as senior animals, pets with special needs, or those that may take longer to find a home,” said a news release sent to Clarksville Now. “For every pet adopted from Montgomery County Animal Care and Control in October, Wyatt Johnson Subaru will make a donation and supply free pet adoption kits to help ensure these animals receive the care and support they need as they transition into loving homes.”

While this resolution was separate from the consent agenda, due to not going before the Budget Committee, it also received unanimous approval.
