CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Kiara Cutting, 11, of Clarksville, was nominated by her 6th grade science teacher, Bernard McMahon, to study science this summer at Loyola University in Chicago.
The six-day conference includes intensive STEM exercises with experienced and leading scientists, and will also prepare her for leadership.
Miss Cutting, who has been in PASS since 2nd grade, and skipped 3rd grade, received the following 6th grade awards:

◦ Highest Average in Math
◦ Highest Average in Social Studies
◦ Highest Average 6th Grade PASS
◦ Clarksville High School Math Competition Participant
◦ APSU Math Competition
◦ “A” Honor Roll
◦ Research Presentation Award (LEGO Robotics) and
◦ Perfect Attendance
Miss Cutting’s extracurricular activities include:
◦ performed in “Tarzan” and other plays at the Roxy Regional Theatre
◦ Robotics Club
◦ Junior Civitan
◦ Junior Beta (5th grade president)
◦ Natalie’s Dance Network dance team (prior years)
◦ APSU leadership camp for middle school girls and
◦ Gold Cup in Piano, with Superior Rating, National Federation of Junior Festivals
Miss Cutting is the daughter of Anne Marie Cutting, court liaison for DCS, and David L. Cutting, retired architectural engineer, who encourage her in her quest to become a medical doctor and are sponsoring her participation in the program at Loyola.
