CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A “young teenage suspect” has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old in the parking lot outside the Montgomery County Fair on May 31.
Detectives with the Clarksville Police Department’s Special Operations Homicide Unit took the juvenile into custody Tuesday afternoon, and the juvenile has been formally charged with homicide, CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien said.
On May 31 at about 9:10 p.m., officers working off-duty at the Clarksville Speedway and Fairgrounds in support of the ongoing fair reported hearing gunshots coming from the parking lot near the entrance, according to previous reports. According to witnesses at the scene, five to six males were seen running from the area toward Hazelwood Road following the incident.
Because of the suspect’s age, CPD has not released the name, and no further information has been provided. The incident remains under investigation.
