CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With an overnight low tonight of only 6 degrees, all Clarksville-Montgomery County schools will operate on a two-hour delay Wednesday.
Montgomery and surrounding counties are under a Cold Weather Advisory from 6 p.m. tonight until 9 a.m. Wednesday. Expect very cold wind chills as low as zero. “The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” the NWS said. “Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.”

In response, CMCSS is starting with a two-hour delay. “The delay will provide additional time for temperatures to warm up for the morning commute, with temperatures expected to be above freezing by the afternoon,” CMCSS said in an announcement.
School breakfast and lunch will both still be served.
“Families, please ensure children are dressed appropriately this week and throughout the winter when there is cold weather,” CMCSS said. “If possible, we recommend that families transport walkers and bus riders to limit their time outside. Our Transportation Department will make every effort to limit bus delays as much as possible, but please always have a plan and ensure students know to return to a warm place in the event that there is a significant delay on the route.”
All residents are advised to bring pets inside and protect pipes, allowing them to drip if needed.
Emergency Warming Shelter
Anyone needing shelter can go to the Clarksville Area Urban Ministries Emergency Warming Shelter at the Madison Street UMC Gymnasium, 300 Commerce St. The shelter is open seven days a week, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., for as long as the overnight temperatures are below freezing. The shelter is in particular need of volunteers and is urging people to sign up online to help.
