NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Motorcycles will provide an escort for “The Wall that Heals” – an exact half replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington.

The escort will travel from the TN/KY state line Tuesday to the TN Bicentennial Mall State Park on 600 James Robertson Parkway.

State Senator Mark Green will be part of the opening ceremony Thursday by discussing his efforts to collect the photos of the remaining 724 of the 1,295 Tennesseans whose names are inscribed on The Wall in Washington, D.C. Green and his fellow senators are working to gather the photos as part of the Education Center at the Wall.

“The men and women who served in Vietnam didn’t receive the kind of support today’s veterans do. Even a simple “Thank you for your service” was hard to come by. Green said. “This escort and the events to come are a way for us to say thank you to those who lost their lives in Vietnam. I am grateful to all who will be a part of this escort as well as to all my fellow senators who will help collect the photos of the fallen so we can put faces with the names and tell their stories as a final tribute to those who gave so much.”
