MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – Authorities are currently tracking down a person of interest with Kentucky and Tennessee ties in a shooting early Sunday morning that left one man dead.

Ralphthaniel Magee, 23, of Springfield was killed during what has been called “Big D’s Birthday Bash” at a private venue near the Tennessee/Kentucky state line.

Multiple agencies are now involved in the investigation.

“When something like this happens, our investigative team works long, exhaustive hours to get all the facts and make an arrest as quickly as possible,” said Sheriff John Fuson. “The investigation is still very sensitive and ongoing at this time, so we aren’t able to release any additional information.”

During the party, held in a public venue on Edlin Street, a fight broke out inside the venue and the fight escalated, spilling outdoors, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

It is believed that 2 or 3 assailants began shooting after the fight, killing 23-year-old Ralphthaniel Magee of Springfield, Tenn. and grazing two women, injuring them. The two women drove themselves to seek medical attention.

Investigators believe the majority of the people at the party were Springfield residents, and Sgt. Steve Heise is asking that anyone at the party, if they saw and heard anything or not, call him at 931-648-0611 ext. 13404 so he can take their statement.

Also, anyone with any information about the case should call Heise, as investigators are currently seeking suspects in the shooting.
