CLARKSVILLE, TN − Vietnam War veteran David Cook was honored on his 78th birthday during a visit at the Veterans Home by Melissa Marquais, founder of TKO The Kindness Objective, and Mayor Joe Pitts.

During the visit, Pitts presented Cook with a special coin. Together with Melissa and her son Caleb, they brought a cake and gave Cook a Vietnam War blanket as a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for his service.

Cook was deeply touched by Pitts’ personal visit, expressing how much it meant to him that the mayor took the time to stop by on his birthday. With a smile, Cook mentioned that he had voted for Pitts and couldn’t believe he had taken the time to see him personally. Pitts responded simply, “That’s because you matter.”
