CLARKSVILLE, TN − State Rep. Ronnie Glynn recently presented a proclamation from the state of Tennessee honoring the Spanish Immersion School at Barksdale Elementary.

The program was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School. The National Blue Ribbon School program honors public and private schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement or make exemplary advances in closing achievement gaps. Spanish Immersion at Barksdale offers Spanish language instruction designed to increase academic achievement, cross-cultural intelligence and high levels of bilingualism.

The proclamation praises Principal Helen Nicholas and the faculty and staff for building “an environment at their school that ensures students have the very best atmosphere for learning.”

Rep. Glynn (D-District 67) says “being recognized as one of the top schools in the nation is an incredible honor and it’s happening right here in our own backyard in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. This is exactly why I will continue to fight for public education in the state legislature.”
