CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery Central Indians took a trip to Clarksville High School as the Wildcats volleyball team celebrated senior night on Monday, Sept. 23. While Montgomery Central gave Clarksville High fits, the Wildcats won in straight sets, 3-0.

Before the game, the senior members of the volleyball team were honored. “It’s a great group of girls that work very hard,” said Clarksville High head coach Glen Fox. “They’re great teammates, they’re great leaders and I’m impressed with all of them.”

As for the in-game action, the Indians started off hot looking to upset the Wildcats. Charlsie Reynolds collected a few kills in a row, and Montgomery Central was within one, 19-18, in the first set. MCHS head coach Neveah Strawser was proud of the way her squad fought with one of the top teams in the area.

“I think they did a phenomenal job early, we do well against very competitive teams,” Strawser said. If we cleaned up our passing and service a little bit, and honed in on that, we would’ve done a lot better than we did.”

Despite the early fight, CHS pulled away to win the first set 25-20, then won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-16, highlighted by a few powerful spikes from Keira Garinger. For Fox, he tipped his cap, but knows his team has a few things to clean up.

“Give credit to Central, they’re a young scrappy team,” Fox said. “We just needed to execute a little better, and we had a few errors, but once we pulled away, we got going. I’d like to play them again sometime next year.”
