CLARKSVILLE, TN − The Montgomery County Rangers played their first game and GNASH season opener on Sept. 16 at the Ford Ice Center in Bellevue against the Brentwood Academy Bruins. Despite the Rangers showcasing a relentless competitive spirit and delivering several big hits, it was the Bruins who capitalized on the scoreboard, making the most of their scoring chances throughout the match and winning 5-2.

After the game, the Rangers’ Assistant Coach Brian Bailey expressed pride in their team’s relentless effort. “For us to hold the line like that is absolutely amazing. It’s a testament to both the kids that are playing, the coaching staff, and the parents who support our players” said the Rangers’ coach.

Despite being a new team with limited experience at this level, the Rangers’ ability to compete against an experienced Bruins squad was impressive, he said, noting that their team’s commitment in the past few weeks was remarkable. “For being a building year, what those kids just accomplished is amazing.”

Stars of the game:

  1. Jonathan Schultz, 18 (Bruins) – Two goals, including a crucial power-play goal.
