Central head coach Wyatt Page was proud of the way his team started against a quality program. “We came out here and we fought against a really good team,” said Page. “I’m proud of their effort all the way to the end, they focused on the details and never gave up. It gives me some hope, and I’ve had hope since I’ve seen this squad. I have so much confidence in these guys, we’re gonna get there.”
However, Clarksville dominated the second half, scoring three straight touchdowns, including two from sophomore Ahvorye Galbreath behind their patented power running game. Senior quarterback Trey Youngs knows that in order to win games, the power run game is the key. “Everybody in this town know what we’re going to do,” said Youngs. “We’re gonna run it, outman guys, and play our power football. If we dot that, we’re gonna win games.”

Montgomery Central falls to 0-1 on the young season, and will face Kirkwood at home next week. Clarksville extends their regular season game winning streak to 11, and will travel to Springfield for one of the oldest rivalries in the state next Friday.
For Clarksville head coach Isaac Shelby, there’s a lot to improve it, but positives to take from this game. “We started a little slow, but that’s a much improved team we played, Page is doing a really good job over there,” Shelby. “We didn’t play well on third down, but we had a lot of good things happen. We just need to clean it up a little bit, but I know this team will get there. Our focus now is on Springfield.”
