CLARKSVILLE, TN − The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library gratefully acknowledges the donation of a portrait of Sam and Dee Boaz, a long overdue tribute to two passionate and long-term supporters of CMCPL. The portrait will be proudly displayed in the Boaz Board Room, so named in recognition of a previously generous donation by the Boaz family to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library. The unveiling of this portrait will occur on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 3:30 pm.
Sam, a native of McKenzie, Tennessee, was an advocate and avid patron of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public library, donating both his time as Library Board chair and financial support in the form of contributing to an endowment that helps to sustain the library to this day. The tradition of library advocacy from the Boaz family continues with Dee, who has served as secretary on the Library Board and has been an integral part of large fundraising campaigns throughout her years of service, beginning with the Glenn Miller Orchestra performance in 1997.
Dee’s fervent dedication to libraries as a whole and CMCPL in particular can be understood through her own words, “Wherever I have been in my personal and professional life, the library has been the first spot to check out and patronize. In a sense, our legacy about libraries is already established, not only with our service and gifts to support this library, but in our children and grandchildren who are readers and patrons of their own libraries.”
“The library has been and remains so very thankful to Sam & Dee as they have been champions of the library by advocating to raise money and awareness of the meaningful ways the library enhances the lives of those in our community,” said Christina Riedel, CMCPL Library director.
This special portrait unveiling ceremony will be held on Aug. 21 at 3:30 in the Boaz Board Room on the second floor of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library. For more information, please contact your public library at 931-648-8826 or visit mcgtn.org/publiclibrary.
