Lorna Faye (Youmans) Tonkin, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the age of 87.
Lorna was born in Flint, MI on October 15, 1936, the oldest of three daughters to Allen and Viva Henry Youmans. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest Bert Tonkin; son, Raymond Tonkin; and sisters, Karen Munsey and Mary Reed.
Lorna was baptized on April 11, 1948, at the First Church of the Brethren in Flint, MI, and confirmed on April 28, 1957, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flint MI. Lorna worked in food service for many years. On December 28, 1956, Lorna was joined in marriage to Ernest (Ernie) Tonkin. They were married for 54 years.
Lorna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1995, actively singing in the choir and as choir librarian, in the LWML, and in a host of other activities. She resided the last years of her life at Arcadia senior living but continued to attend Grace with great joy until her final illness.
Lorna is survived by her daughters, Carlla Samuel, Wendy (Phil) Livingston, and Kelley (Stanley) Callender; daughter-in-law, Maria Tonkin; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 5:00 PM with Rev. Larry A. Peters officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.
