Phyllis S. Buehler (84) went to Heaven on Saturday, July 6 after a long and graceful battle with Alzheimer’s. Phyllis was an accomplished physician practice manager, pianist, and homemaker. She lived a joyful life, laughed often, traveled many places around the world, even learned to fly an airplane in her 40s.

Phyllis led a life of service to the Lord, to others and to her church. She practiced The Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12) every day of her life, and she blessed many people with unconditional acceptance and love.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 20 years, Richard Buehler (d. 2019). They enjoyed retirement together to the fullest extent, and most importantly created a wonderful, blended family to carry on their legacy of love and giving.

She is also preceded in death by John W. Griffey (d. 1995), her beloved husband of 17 years. Together they built a wonderful life of service to others, providing love and shelter and hope to many.

Phyllis is survived by one natural born daughter, Kerri Frye, two granddaughters, Hilary Woodard (Josh) and Nicole Frye, and two great grandchildren.

She later welcomed and was loved by five adult children in 1999 (Buehler). She loved them just the same, with all of her heart. These include Jody Buehler (Jane) of Tipton IN, Shari Myers (Frank) of Clarksville TN, Marty Buehler of St. Petersburg FL, Rick Buehler (Rodger) of Nashville and Dona Wiley (Kasey) of Pegram. Six grandchildren included Jessica Buehler Rutledge, Will Myers (Abbey), Katie Myers, Sasha Reeder, Noah Wiley and Ava Wiley, plus four great grandchildren and another to be born any day now.

Phyllis also became a second Mom to two adult children in 1980 (Griffey), including Janis Griffey (Dave) Williams and John Griffey, Jr. (Jodi), plus one grandchild Dianna Griffey (Andy Tomlinson). She loved them fully, just the same.

Special thanks are offered to the wonderful caregivers of Comfort Keepers, who provided loving care to Phyllis in her home for eight years. Of special mention are Mary G, Pam, Stephanie, Esi, Mary F, Cassie R, Betty H (deceased), Red, Mandie and Carolyn.

A memorial service will be held at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home in Clarksville TN at 1pm on Saturday, July 27, with visitation from 11am until 1pm.

Phyllis touched a lot of lives. Let’s pay it forward.
