CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery County Democratic Party has called for the resignation of a City Council member after a presentation at a council meeting in which he connected national investment firms to DEI programs as part of a conspiracy to promote an LGBTQ-based Communist agenda that involves Satan worship.

On Monday, the local Democratic Party announced the resolution demanding the resignation of Clarksville City Council member Travis Holleman.

City Council meeting

During the council meeting on Thursday, June 27, Holleman gave a slideshow presentation on public policies and employee policies. He brought up what he called “factors of influence,” saying that most well-known companies and products are owned by the same major investment firms, giving the “illusion of choice.”

“So, if they (major investment firms) own everything, and they actually have massive influence, they can set agendas with governments,” Holleman told the council. “They can implement forced social change and keep the rest of the population in fear of speaking out for fear of being cancelled.”

Holleman said that as a result, a lot of “woke” agendas are being pushed, especially through diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) officers. In his presentation, he compared DEI officers to Communist Party political officers and a Marxist agenda.

“What I’ve observed is that they (DEI) tell companies that they have hired too many straight men or too many white people,” Holleman said. “They implement training programs to help employees be brainwashed and indoctrinated. … They encourage hiring based off of skin color or who someone sleeps with over skill and experience.”

According to Holleman, Clarksville is trying to force social change, using the application for board or commission appointment as an example. “One of the things that you need to check off is ‘gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender,’ so, Clarksville cares who you sleep with or if you’re addicted to cross-dressing,” Holleman said.

Holleman said there is an agenda being pushed on Clarksville’s children. On a slide titled “Marxist LGBT Agenda” depicting a drag queen reading a book to children, Holleman said the community dedicated to sex wants children as members and that Clarksville had its own “child indoctrination” event: C-Pride, which took place on June 29.

“Just a reminder as we’re going through Pride month, the prince of pride is Satan,” Holleman said as he displayed a slide with an image of a Satan statue being hugged by children.

“Ultimately, we need to all look at ourselves, because at the end of the day, our society is sick. We need repentance and we need to wake up and come together as a city and repent, because Christ is waiting for our repentance.”

Reaction to Holleman’s comments

Immediately following Holleman’s presentation, council member Karen Reynolds told the council, “I’m going to be very careful and try to hone my fury at this absolute slate of hate that we were just forced to sit through. I want to say as a mother, as a sister, everything you said was absolutely against every ounce of my family value of unconditional love.”

She responded to several points Holleman made in his presentation.

Holleman then read and issued to Mayor Joe Pitts his prepared resignation from the council’s Parks and Recreation Committee.

The MCDP said Holleman’s comments spread harmful false information and hurt the community’s values of acceptance by severely mischaracterizing the LGBTQ+ community. The resolution encourages Holleman to resign from the council. If he fails to resign, the MCDP urges that the City Council censure him for his actions and remove him from all governmental leadership roles.

“Councilmember Holleman has not faithfully represented the true interests of his constituents. We strongly oppose any form of discrimination or misrepresentation that endangers the well-being of Clarksville’s LGBTQ+ community,” said Charles Uffelman, chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Party.

Clarksville Now has reached out to Holleman for a response.

This is not the first time this year the Holleman has come under fire from the MCDP. In March, Holleman recorded an online video to share his thoughts about an approaching council vote on school vouchers, linking opponents to Marxists. In the video, Holleman pulled out a copy of The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and cites passages to link it to the modern LGBTQ-rights movement.
