CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Southern Roofing and Renovation donated a roof yesterday as part of their continued efforts to help veterans in need.

Cesar Mejia’s roof experienced leakage after a storm last year, with water pouring inside and setting off the home’s fire alarms. He contacted Southern Roofing and Renovations after facing difficulties with his insurance company.

Mejia was then selected for a project, which aims to give away a certain number of needed roof repairs each year to veterans in the community. Southern Roofing and Renovation partnered up with Owens Corming Platinum Roofing as part of their Owens Corming Roof Deployment Project, to allow Mejia and his family to get the support that they needed.

“This is a huge lift from me and my wife right now,” Mejia said, who was already working on renovating the house’s walls and flooring. “This is a huge expense that we don’t have to worry about anymore.”

Casey Greavu, Southern Roofing and Renovation’s senior project manager, said that Mejia had received significant damage but that they were unable to negotiate with the insurance company. Greavu helped submit Mejia’s case to the roof deployment project.

Greavu said that helping Mejia was especially rewarding as a veteran himself. “It just feels different, being able to give back to one of my brothers.”
