CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The driver of the second vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run crash on Peachers Mill Road in Clarksville was finally found and interviewed by law enforcement.

On June 16, at about 7:50 p.m., Clarksville Police responded to the scene of a hit-and-run crash at Peachers Mill Road. One of the drivers, Huey Johnson, 47, struck a pole before his vehicle came to rest off of the roadway. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The second vehicle, believed to be a red Ford Fusion with damage to the rear section at the time, did not stop when the crash occurred and continued northbound on Peachers Mill Road.

According to CPD spokesman, Scott Beaubien, the investigation showed that both vehicles were traveling at an excessive speed just before the crash resulting in the death of Mr. Johnson. During the investigation, Beaubien said police determined that the second vehicle was not a Ford Focus after all and was actually a maroon Kia K5.

The Kia, Beaubien says, was a non-contact vehicle, meaning that the driver did not actually strike Johnson’s vehicle, but their actions contributed or caused the crash resulting in the death of Johnson.

On Monday, June 24, the driver of the Kia was located and interviewed by investigators. Currently, investigators are working with the District Attorney’s office regarding possible charges in this case.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no other information is available for release at this time.
