Update, 3:39 p.m.: The roadway is back open but will be temporarily closed again tomorrow for additional work.

According to Highway Supervisor Jeff Bryant, the call to close River Road was due to a pipe outlet failure which caused serious erosion that could jeopardize the safety of travelers. Weather permitting, the road will be closed again tomorrow for additional work. “We apologize for the inconvenience as we work to bring the road back online,” Bryant said.
