CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) — Artist Terri Jordan is exhibiting new works at the Peg Harvill Gallery of the Roxy Regional Theatre for the month of June. The exhibit, titled Everything Within, features Jordan’s signature figurative work. The color palette of these new oil paintings is brighter than many of her moodier pieces of the past and there is a bit of a surrealist element to the compositions. The artist frequently uses symbolic objects within the narratives of the paintings to hint at her storyline.
Jordan states “I tend to work in themed suites, series of five to twelve paintings. While I do not exhibit my works as self-portraits, they are based on the concept of capturing the world around me; as well as, within me. My paintings are motivated by my experiences and my interests in where we have come from. More recently, my themes have become reflective of my personal journey through life – aging, loss, memories.”
Terri Jordan’s work has exhibited in group and solo shows within galleries and museums across the U.S. She has received many awards for her paintings; most recently, the Symanarts Painters Prize in the Cooperstown Art 87th Annual National Exhibition in 2022. In 2015, Terri was named in the Top Ten Portrait/figurative artists of Tennessee by the Portrait Society of America in a juried process. This year, Jordan’s paintings have been exhibited in the Masur Museum of Art, Louisianna, with the Women Made Gallery, Illinois, and with the Las Laguna Gallery, California.
Everything Within will be on exhibit through June 29. The Peg Harvill Gallery space is open during the Roxy’s regular hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, and during performances. The artist will be there during the June 6 ArtWalk.
