CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After months of anticipation, ALDI opened their second location in Clarksville on Thursday as they look to expand their footprint in Montgomery County.

During their grand opening at 2829 Wilma Rudolph Blvd., in the former home of Bed, Bath and Beyond in the Target shopping complex, ALDI gave away gift bags and gift cards to their first customers.

ALDI first came to Clarksville in 2003, when they opened a storefront at 1628 Fort Campbell Blvd. Then, in 2019, ALDI closed that location and moved to a spot nearby at 1570 Fort Campbell Blvd., which remained their only store in Clarksville until Thursday.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier,” said Mount Juliet ALDI Vice President Amy Peters. “ALDI is positioned to help keep costs as low as possible because of our disciplined approach to operating with simplicity and efficiency.”

ALDI stores are noted for a couple of unusual shopping practices: Customers “rent” carts for a quarter and get the quarter back upon the cart’s return. And customers do their own bagging or boxing after checkout.

The ALDI chain is one of America’s fastest growing retailers, serving millions of customers across the United States each month, according to ALDI’s official website. As of 2022, they nearly had 2,000 stores across 36 states and were on track to become the third-largest grocery retailer by store count.

The store will open at 9 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
