CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kirkwood High Athletics announced on Thursday the hiring of Micah Rochester, who will be taking over as the Lady Cobras’ second girls’ basketball coach in school history.
Rochester currently serves as a teacher at Kirkwood High but has 17 years of head coaching experience, most recently with Springfield High School. During his years as a head coach, Rochester coached in five district championship games, two region championships and coached in a TSSAA final four in 2015. He also was an assistant coach for the Kirkwood High boys’ basketball team this past season.
“I am excited for the challenge and new opportunity to lead the Lady Cobras basketball program,” Rochester said. “I cannot wait to get to work.”
Kirkwood High School Athletic Director, Joshua Stoeckl, shared in a statement, “We are excited to have Mr. Rochester step into this role to lead the Lady Cobras. He comes to us with a wealth of experience and game knowledge that we feel will help our ladies grow to reach their full potential. I am excited to see what our team can do under his direction.”
The Cobras won six games in their inaugural season last year under head coach Chris Carney, who stepped down last week to pursue another coaching offer. Rochester will now look to turn his team into a District 13-4A contender.
