CLARKSVILLE, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is set to host the first-ever Clarksville Greenway 8k on Sunday, April 21. This new running event promises participants a professional race experience spanning eight kilometers (five miles) on the beautiful Clarksville Greenway.
The Greenway 8K Race will kick off near Kenwood Middle School and is an out-and-back race. Runners can expect a picturesque route, passing through the Mary’s Oak Trailhead, crossing the iconic Raymond C. Hand Pass, a 600-foot pedestrian bridge, and finally reaching the Pollard Road Trailhead where they will turn around and head back to the finish line.
The distance was chosen for its uniqueness as well as its alignment with the Clarksville Greenway layout.
Every participant will receive a race packet containing a finisher medal, t-shirt, and special surprise gift. The race will be chip-timed and there will be awards for the top three male and female winners, as well as awards for the top male and female in each age group.
“The idea of doing a race at the Greenway has been something we’ve thought about over the years and heard about in our survey we conducted last year.,” said Maggie Houts, Event Planning Supervisor for Clarksville Parks & Recreation.
“We’re excited to make it happen, and we think this is a race that will be popular for years to come,” she said.
Registration is open to 500 participants and closes on April 8. To register please visit http://tinyurl.com/yw9xpwtc
