Mavis Mae Herrera (Kirkland) went home to be with her Heavenly Father and Heavenly Family on February 16, 2024, at age 76. She transitioned peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born July 8, 1947, in Dover, TN to the late William Gobel and Dorothy Mae Kirkland (Green).

Everyone who knew Mavis knew she loved getting her hair and nails done and having lunch with her friends; especially Susan Murphy and Dee Dee Chambers whom she considered her best friends. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed Sunday dinners at her sister’s house which included her nieces. She adored her daughter, her siblings, grandchildren, and was proud of her great-grandchildren.

Mavis attended the Community of Hope First Nazarene Church and loved her church family.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Wanda Mae McPheron Sivis and son-in-law, Steven Sivis, grandchildren: Tyler Sivis (Che), Travis Sivis, Tonya Pritchett (Antonio) and Trent Sivis; great-grandchildren: Sylvie Sivis and Alfonzo Pritchett; her devoted brother and sister, Charles Kirkland (Betsy) and Glenda Turner (Jeff); five nieces: Krystal Jones, Angie Jackson, Shelly Bender, Kelly Friedmann and Amy Durrer.

The Family would like to give special thanks to her cousin, Mike Craig, for his unconditional love and friendship.

A visitation will be held at Gateway Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
