George V. Logan, 93, was born in Nashville, Tennessee on September 9, 1930 and passed away on December 16, 2023. He was predeceased by his Mother, Lera Veluzat Logan and Father, George W. Logan, his brothers, Vernard Barkley, Bernard Barkley, his sisters, Joy Johnson and Angela Beck, and his son George Randall Logan.
He is survived by his Wife of 73 years, Dorothy W. Logan, and his daughters, Sherry L. Davidson, Teresa L. (Mike) Harrison, and Mitzi L. (David) Dorris-King; grandchildren Kristen Davidson, Andrew (Kaitiy) Davidson, Joshua Davidson, Chase (Christina) Fryer, Zachary (Amanda) Fryer, Alaina Dorris, Cody (Lindsay) Dorris, Brady Dorris, and Logan Dorris; and great grandchildren RJ Davidson, Chris Collins-Davidson, Isaiah Collins, Everett Fryer, Evie Ann Fryer, J.J. Fryer, Finn Fryer, and Charles Large.
George is a graduate of East High School of Nashville, Tennessee and married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Williams, in 1950. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He worked alongside his father at Logan Supermarkets, stocking the store and driving a delivery truck in his early teens, and later managing the meat and bakery areas. Thereafter he became President of the family business, Southern Woodenware, Inc. for 27 years, 1972 through 1999. Throughout his life he shared with his family a love for finding ways to help others and for farming, raising large gardens, horses, pigs, chickens, guineas, and goats. He was a self-taught master at music, masonry, plumbing, electrical work, woodworking, and technology. He was a member of Connell Memorial United Methodist Church for 34 years, serving as choir director, worship song leader, and holding multiple positions on most every church Board, then at Lambuth Memorial for 16 years where he continued to hold many leadership positions. He and Dorothy moved back to Goodlettsville two years ago and returned to Connell once again.
A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, which will be followed by a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Connell Memorial United Methodist Church, 113 Church Street, Goodlettsville, Tennessee 37072 visitation to begin at 9:30 A.M.
