CLARKSVILLE, TN – Trinity Parish invites all who, especially in the face of recent events, might find this season difficult or are struggling during this season, to our Blue Christmas service, Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. This gathering provides a quiet and contemplative worship service as an alternative to the more traditional gatherings, in honor of those who are experiencing grief or struggling with loss of any type.
For some, trauma of the recent tornado, memories of past experiences and the pain of present experiences and situations can become overwhelming. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Eve can be very difficult and a reminder of the challenges in our lives. In this service, we invite you to listen. We invite you to pray. And we trust that you will find hope and comfort in knowing that you are not alone.
“Blue Christmas is a service held in the Advent season marking the longest night of the year. We choose this night during Advent to be set aside for this service to commemorate and honor people who find this time of year particularly challenging due to grief, pain or the loss of a loved one,” said the Rev. Chad McCabe, Trinity’s priest.
“This service is intended to provide anyone, no matter their background, a safe space to process and recognize the emotions without any distractions. We invite everyone to join us and share this with someone you may know who might feel like this service is right for them at this time of year.
“We invite all those who mourn any loss this season, no matter their background or experience, through our red doors on Franklin Street, which are open to all,” McCabe said.
This service will be held in Trinity’s sanctuary at 317 Franklin St., downtown Clarksville. To learn more, visit the Trinity Parish website.
