CLARKSVILLE, TN – The United Way Adopt-a-Family program is gaining speed with a number of families in need applying for assistance with making Christmas brighter, and United Way is seeking sponsors to help fill the need.
Families apply for Christmas assistance by completing an application. A “family” could be a veteran, an elderly person living alone, or parent(s)/guardian(s) with children living in the house.
Sponsors can adopt a family by completing a sponsor application. Sponsors indicate the number of and sizes of families they can support. Sponsors can include an individual, a workplace team, civic groups, a church, or even make it something your family does together.
UW staff will match a family to a sponsor according to the number and size of each family a sponsor has chosen. Then sponsors will be emailed their matched family’s wish list(s) by Mid-November. Once you’re done shopping, gifts are dropped off to the UW office, wrapped and tagged, during the week of Dec. 11-15. Families will then be given an appointment date and time to pick up gifts the week before Christmas.
