CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville native Judy Daggett traveled to Lahti, Finland to participate in the 2023 VinFast Iron Man 70.3 World Championship and came away victorious in her age division on Saturday, Aug. 26, according to a news release by the event’s public relations team.

Daggett captured the triathlon title after defeating top athletes from around the world in the women’s 65 to 69 age group. The Clarksville native finished the triathlon in 5 hours, 24 minutes and 41 seconds.

According to the news release, the race began when competitors raced through a 1.2-mile swim course in Lake Vesijärvi. Following the conclusion of the first leg of the race, the athletes hopped on bikes to ride through a 56-mile bike course that took participants through the Finnish countryside and the small towns of Kärkölä and Hollola.

To end the event, Daggett and her competitors made their way to the Sport and Fair Centre before hopping off their bikes to run a 13.1-mile course. When it was all said and done, Daggett crossed the finish line first.

  • Running: 1 hour, 51 minutes and 27 seconds.

Around 6,000 athletes registered to compete in the event, which included ages ranging from 18 to 86 from more than 115 countries, regions and territories.
