CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The 9th annual Deputy Bubba Johnson Memorial Road Race returned Saturday at Beachaven Vineyards & Winery. More than 130 runners and walkers participated in the 5K event.

The run is held in memory of Montgomery County Deputy David “Bubba” Johnson, who lost his life in a motor vehicle crash on Jan. 12, 2014, while on duty with the Sheriff’s Office.

Bubba Johnson’s widow, Jennifer Johnson recognized the community and supporters of the event. “I feel wonderful, and I feel very humbled. It’s very comforting that everybody still wants to memorialize Bubba. I want to thank Sgt. Jeff Morlock, Sgt Dan Brinkmeyer, and Sheriff john Fuson for always being here for our family,” Johnson said.

Johnson also thanked the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Reserves, Explorers, Emergency Medical Service and the Clarksville Running Club for their help. Bubba Johnson had a long history of service to the community having also worked with the Clarksville Police Department and the Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service.

Proceeds from the event support the Deputy Bubba Johnson Foundation and benefit the spouses and families of Tennessee Law Enforcement Officers who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.
