CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Rotary Club/Kiwanis Football Season Kickoff was held Wednesday, featuring season previews by coaches for high school teams across Montgomery County.
The majority of Clarksville-area coaches attended the luncheon and spoke about their teams heading into the new year.
The host, Brian Rives, opened up the event on Wednesday, and he was followed up by Austin Peay Vice President & Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison.
Harrison commended the head football coaches at each school, in addition to the athletic directors in attendance, for the difference they make in the Clarksville community.
A number of new head coaches were introduced during the program, which included Clarksville Academy’s Steadman Bell, Kirkwood High’s Chad Watson and Northeast High’s Sam Lipsey.
The coaches spoke on the foundation they have begun to build within their programs at each school, and what the opportunity means to each.
A few familiar faces returned to the event as well. A large number of them praised CMCSS District Programs and Activities Coordinator John Miller for bringing back middle school football, which is expected to make a competitive difference in the years to come.
