CLARKSVILLE, TN – One of the oldest companies in Clarksville has been purchased by a Michigan-based company. Alro Steel has announced an agreement to acquire Heimansohn Steel, with an expected close date of July 28.

Heimansohn Steel was founded in 1896 by Lui Heimansohn, and is now owned by Curt and Lawrence Mize, representing the third and fourth generations of the family, according to an announcement by Alro Steel.

Heimansohn is a metals service center at 211 Gatlin St. with processing services that include metal cutting, shearing, drilling, punching and bending.

“We are thrilled to join another family-owned company whose top priority is also customer service,” Lawrence Mize, vice president of Heimansohn Steel, said in the release. “It has been our pleasure to serve Clarksville and the surrounding areas with superior customer service for the last 127 years. We want to thank each and every one of our customers for the many years of success. With this acquisition, we will be able to fulfill even more of your metal needs with the addition of more inventory and processing capabilities. You will still be greeted with the same faces when you walk through the door. We are proud to continue serving you under the Alro name.”

This purchase will allow Alro, based in Jackson, Michigan, to grow its customer base in Tennessee and Kentucky while providing enhanced product offerings, processing and delivery for cut to order metals, the news release said.

“We are excited to welcome Heimansohn Steel to the Alro family,” said Randy Glick, CEO of Alro Steel. “This acquisition will benefit our customers with expanded inventories of metals and plastics plus additional processing capabilities.”
