CLARKSVILLE, TN – Clarksville Academy, an independent school located downtown, is proud to announce its accreditation by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS).

To earn accreditation from SAIS, Clarksville Academy complied with quality standards, was evaluated by an outside group of peer professionals, and implemented a school plan focused on strategic improvement and student performance. In accordance with the school’s mission, to promote academic excellence, moral integrity, physical growth, and civic responsibility. CA completed a two year study for improvements.

A team representing SAIS conducted an on-site visit to review Clarksville Academy’s self-study and its adherence and compliance to standard, indicators, and mission. The team was comprised of educational leaders representing multiple roles from institutions across the southern region.

During their review of Clarksville Academy, the SAIS visiting team provided both commendations and recommendations based on the school’s improvement plan and self-study.

  • Demonstrating leadership and vision, especially by Head of School, Jennifer Hinote, in the area of financial sustainability.
  • Significantly reducing debt.
  • Demonstrating leadership transparency regarding school finances and operations.
  • Producing a balanced annual operating budget with a surplus.
  • Using curriculum mapping in cross-divisional curricular alignment and departmental planning.
  • Retaining faculty and fostering the partnership of students, parents, and teachers.
  • Significant participation in Upper School athletics with over 80% of the Upper School population participating in one or more sport.
  • The athletic department’s focus on developing short-term and life-long wellness habits is commendable, as exhibited by the hire of a strength and conditioning coach.
  • Enhancements have been made to campus security, which limits access to buildings and classrooms.
  • The school is committed to creating an intentional plan to welcome new students and families.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership, Jennifer Hinote is supported by the administrative team’s commitment, collaboration, and cohesiveness.
