CLARKSVILLE, TN – Internationally renowned concert artist Olivier Latry will visit Clarksville for two events on March 9 and 10.
Since 1985, Latry has held the post of Titular Organist at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France. He also serves as Professor of Organ at the Paris Conservatory, one of the oldest schools of music in the world, founded in 1795. In addition to his cathedral and teaching position, Latry carries out a career as a concert performer. He has played in over 40 countries across five continents.
In Clarksville, Latry will present a master class on Thursday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. and will feature performances of organists from both Clarksville in Nashville. On Friday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. Latry will present a solo organ concert. Both events will be held at Madison Street United Methodist Church (319 Madison St. in downtown Clarksville).
Thursday’s master class is free and open to the public. The concert on Friday is a ticketed event and tickets may be purchased through the Clarksville Community Concert Association (www.clarksvillemusic.org) or at the door on Friday night. The cost is $25 per ticket.
In the United States, Latry performs under the auspices of Karen McFarlane Artists Inc. His engagements in Clarksville are sponsored by The Clarksville Community Concert Association, Madison Street United Methodist Church, and the Nashville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
