Update, 6:40 p.m.: Traffic is slow but returning to normal for most of Clarksville, but it’s still backed up from Exit 1 past the state line into Kentucky.

Update, 5:30 p.m.: Traffic is clear between Exits 4 and 11, but remains backed up between Exit 1 and 4, and from Exit 11 to about mile marker 13.

Update, 4:45 p.m.: Traffic is getting worse, backed up now past Exit 11 to about mile marker 13.

Update, 4:25 p.m.: Clarksville Police are reporting the traffic problems started with a semi tractor-trailer crash in Kentucky.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Interstate 24 westbound was at a standstill through most of Clarksville on Wednesday.

The problems started with construction traffic backing up from mile marker 86 in Kentucky, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.

At 4:15 p.m., the interstate was closed at Exit 1 and backed up past Exits 4 and 8 to Exit 11.

CPD recommends motorists traveling westbound on I-24 find an alternate route and avoid the area if possible.
