CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Northwest boys’ tennis team captured a district championship victory against Rossview High on May 2.

The victory marked the second consecutive district championship win for the Vikings. Prior to their matchup with Rossview, Northwest defeated Clarksville High in the semi-finals.

Monday’s win also extended the Vikings perfect record against district opponents. Northwest has won 10 straight matches as they continue their quest to extend their winning streak into the postseason. A number of players are undefeated in singles and doubles too.

This included Justin Freeburg who has gone undefeated throughout his high school career. Hunter Schop-Jines and Hagen Albright went undefeated in singles play, and each doubles team went undefeated. The team of Jones and Freeburg won the individual tournament in doubles during district play.

“We made history here at Northwest High,” said head coach Emily Albright. “It means the world to me to return to my former high school and coach this group of players. They all are coachable players and such a joy to coach.”
