CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – West Creek utility player Xaven Fowler has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week for his play throughout the week of May 2.

West Creek baseball played a total of four games during the week, and their first matchup was against Rossview High. The Coyotes’ lost 17-3 to the Hawks. However, one bright spot for West Creek was Fowler’s overall play. He went 3 for 3 with 1 double, 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored. Fowler accounted for half of the team hits and all of the team’s runs scored.

Fowler continued his success throughout the following three contests. He finished the week hitting .600 and had an on-base percentage of .667. In addition, he finished with 2 doubles, 4 RBI’s, 4 runs scored, 1 walk and 1 hit by pitch. Fowler displayed a great presence at the plate, all while showcasing his power and ability to get on base by any means necessary.

2022 season

Fowler showcased consistency at the plate all season long. Statistics show the utility player ranked near the top of significant statistical categories. One of impressive takeaway is that Fowler was ranked third on the team in hits while only having 61 total at-bats. Also, he reached base more than half of his plate appearances.

The Coyotes’ season came to an end on Thursday after a loss in their district tournament against Springfield High. West Creek lost an early lead during the game. They went on to give up the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lose the game. Fowler reached base twice due to a single and a hit by pitch.

The Coyotes were one of the most productive offenses throughout Montgomery County during the 2022 season. According to Game Changer, the team finished with an overall record of 16-12. Eight out of the team’s twelve losses came against district opponents.
