CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Peppers Mercado Restaurant & Bar is offering a new place for local artists to perform.
Peppers, located at 1191 Fort Campbell Blvd., offers “a little bit of everything,” according to owner Elizabeth Carrol. The location includes a taco shop, bar, pool tables and a vendor’s market.
Carrol said she started with the market, but when the unit next door became available, she decided to expand.
“I love food. I make tacos, and everybody seems to like them and eat them,” owner Elizabeth Carrol told Clarksville Now.
‘A stage for the people’
Local musician John Perry handles the booking for Peppers alongside Caroll’s husband, Seth. He told Clarksville Now that he discovered Peppers on the Musicians of Clarksville Facebook group, and he was asked to play a show there.
“Seth was talking about wanting to start an open mic night and I said, ‘I want some tacos; I’ll go on down.’ It was one of my favorite gigs I’ve every played,” said Perry. “It just felt so welcoming and so wonderful.”
Seth Caroll added that Peppers aims to be welcoming to local artists across all genres of music as well as other performances.
“The goal is, it’s our stage,” Carol added. “It’s in our place, but it’s really a stage for the people. We let anybody on – all genres, all styles, all things. … If you want to pour your heart into something, we want to give you a mouthpiece to do that.”
Peppers is open every day starting at 7:30 a.m. Open mic nights are held every Thursday at 7. For a list of upcoming events, visit them on Facebook.
