CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Firefighters had a busy weekend in Clarksville and Montgomery County, with one of the blazes started when chicken nuggets caught fire in the kitchen.
Chicken nugget fire

On Sunday at 6:52 p.m., a kitchen fire was reported on Brandywine Drive.
Clarksville Fire Rescue Battalion 2 crews from Stations 6, 5 and 1 had the fire under control by 7:07 p.m.
The residents were cooking chicken nuggets and French fries, and they stepped away to go to the bathroom, CFR reported. When they came back, the kitchen was on fire.
No injuries are reported.
“Unattended cooking is the No. 1 cause of fires in the United States,” CFR said. “We are glad that no one was injured. The family had renters’ insurance. We highly recommend you do the same if you are renting.”
Cat killed in fire

On Saturday at 10:46 p.m., a fire was reported on Downer Drive in north Clarksville.
CFR Battalion 1 units from Stations 6, 5 and 1 responded and found heavy fire and smoke coming out of a front bedroom window.
Three people were able to escape. One cat died; the family dog was found alive and well, CFR reported.
No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
Fire on Dunlop Lane

On Saturday at about 7 a.m., Montgomery County Fire Service Stations 17 and 18 responded to Dunlop Lane.
The fire was in an abandoned structure. No injuries were reported.
