CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Heavy traffic congestion on Interstate 24 is causing a massive slowdown in the eastbound lanes.

According to a news release from Clarksville Police spokesperson Scott Beaubien, the heavy traffic congestion has been reported on Interstate 24 eastbound and is affecting the areas around Exit 1 past Exit 8, which is affecting all motorists traveling on the Interstate.

As of 2:15 p.m., the traffic is also affecting drivers traveling near the Interstate, however no wrecks have been reported and the cause of the congestion is currently unclear.

It also appears as though on-ramps and off-ramps are experiencing slowdowns as well.

The area of Exit 8 and Rossview Road is already experiencing heavy traffic flow due to the school zone traffic that is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. through 2:45 p.m., Beaubien said, adding that drivers should try and avoid these areas until the congestion clears.
