CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A man shot two people and then killed himself during a kidnapping and police chase Saturday night.
At about 9:44 p.m., Clarksville Police responding to a shots fired call in the 500 block of Lafayette Road found a man with a gunshot wound, according to police spokesman Scott Beaubien.
Witnesses said another man had taken a woman hostage at gunpoint and forced her into a white Dodge Charger.
Additional officers were responding when the Charger was seen going north on Fort Campbell Boulevard. They pursued the vehicle to the 1200 block of Parkway Place.
The Charger came to a stop, and the woman jumped out and was on the ground. When officers approached the vehicle, they found that the woman had multiple gunshot wounds that appeared to be non-lifethreatening. The suspect had shot himself and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both victims – the woman from the car and the man from Lafayette Road – were taken to Nashville by LifeFlight helicopter, and their status has not been released.
Beaubien said it was a domestic-related incident.
No further information has been released.
