CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A mother was arrested in Clarksville when she was discovered drinking and driving with her two young children in the vehicle after she allegedly asked them if they were “ready to die” March 31.
According to a report from the Clarksville Police Department, Ester Lopez, 44, was seen drinking at a city park by a witness, who then saw Lopez drive away with her children, both age six.
Police arrived at the Steak and Shake location on Wilma Rudolph Blvd. where Lopez’s vehicle was sitting sideways in the drive-thru against a curb. The driver’s door was open and Lopez was slumped over behind the wheel.
An empty 24-ounce Bud Light Margarita can was found in the vehicle, and another open can was found in a cup holder. While the officer attempted to speak to Lopez, she fell to the ground and began crawling around in the parking lot. She told the officer she had consumed three drinks.
Lopez was arrested and charged with DUI and child and abuse and neglect. Her bond was set at $2,500.
