CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With 4-5 inches of snow expected in Clarksville on Thursday, several closures and event cancellations are expected, both Thursday and Friday.

Friday closures

Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools: Due to the winter storm and the hazardous travel conditions that are expected to continue through tomorrow, all CMCSS schools and district offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 7. After-school activities and athletics are canceled.

Clarksville Academy: CA will be closed Friday, Jan. 7.

Clarksville Christian School: CCS will be closed on Friday, Jan. 7.

Montgomery County Government: Offices will remain closed through Friday, Jan. 7.

Thursday closures

City of Clarksville: 

  • Mayor Joe Pitts has requested that City Council members and the public not attend the scheduled council meeting at 6 p.m. The mayor will convene the meeting, take roll, and adjourn if fewer than seven members attend, meaning there is no quorum. Pitts will make an announcement regarding rescheduling those items on the January agenda.
  • City Public Safety lobbies are closed; however, dispatch and officers will be on duty as usual. Open city services will continue by using remote communication channels.
  • Clarksville Transit System will be on duty as usual. Riders should check www.rideCTS.com or the CTS Facebook page for updates.
  • Building and Codes will be closing at noon.
  • Parks & Recreation Department will be working remotely. All city parks, including the Fort Defiance Civil War Park, recreation centers, and pool will be closed.
  • Clarksville City Court, Purchasing Department, and Clarksville Neighborhood and Community Services will be working remotely.
  • Clarksville Gas & Water administration and engineering offices will be closed. In the event of a gas, water, or sewer emergency, customers should call (931) 645-7400 or the after-hours emergency line at (931) 645-0116. The Utility Billing Line, (931) 645-7400, automated pay by phone and WebConnect, www.clarksvillegw.com, online bill payment feature will be operational. The payment drop box on 2215 Madison St. is available at any hour, and Kiosk paysites located at 111 Cunningham Lane and Clarksville 24-hour Hi-Road Convenience Stores are available for customer bill payment.
  • Finance Division will be working remotely. The Revenue Collections Division located on the first floor of the City Hall building will not be open, and tax services at the Trustee’s Office and the North Clarksville City Services Center will not be available. All services at Property taxes may be paid at any time online at https://mss.cityofclarksville.com/css/.
  • CDE Lightband office remains open, but customers are urged to use phone and online systems to reach the utility when possible. In the event of a service outage, please call (931) 648-8151. Customers can go online at https://cdelightband.com/customer-service/ for service and bill paying information.
  • A decision regarding tonight’s City Council Regular Session will be made before noon.

CEMC: All CEMC and Cumberland Connect offices will be closing at 12:30 p.m. CEMC personnel will be available in the event of an emergency by calling 1-800-987-2362.

Montgomery County Government: Offices are closed effective immediately. For government services available online, please visit mcgtn.org.

Montgomery County Courts: Courts are closed today. More information will be coming about rescheduling of cases.

State of Tennessee offices: Gov. Bill Lee has closed state offices in West, Middle and East Tennessee. State employees will utilize work from home capabilities where possible. State services offered online will remain available. All citizens are urged to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel where possible today.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools: All CMCSS schools and district offices will be closed. After-school activities and athletics are canceled. Employees, please refer to your email for additional information. Please note that due to state law, CMCSS does not have the option to switch to district-wide remote learning on inclement weather days. CMCSS has 5 stockpiled student days and will use 1 of those 5 days tomorrow. Please visit cmcss.net/operations/weather for more information.

Austin Peay State University: APSU will be closed, according to a university alert at 3 p.m. Wednesday All on-ground classes and university events are canceled for that day. Students will need to check their D2L course sites for details on make-up assignments or tests, or contact the instructor for more information. Inclement weather essential employees should report as usual. Employees are asked to contact supervisors if they are uncertain on whether to report, or for remote work assignments.

Daymar-Hussian College: The Clarksville campus will be closed.

Fort Campbell: Fort Campbell is closed for non-essential services. Emergency employees remain or report as directed by your supervisor. Tenant organization employees contact your supervisor for instructions. DoDEA Fort Campbell Schools will be closed. The Commissary will be closed. The AAFES Main Exchange will be closed, only the 24-hour Kentucky Express will open.

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital: BACH outpatient will be closed. Outpatient services includes all primary care and specialty care services, pharmacies, COVID-19 test site, COVID-19 vaccine site, behavioral health, women’s health clinic, and Screaming Eagle Medical Home. Emergency and inpatient services, including hospital admissions to the inpatient ward, Intensive Care Unit, Labor, Delivery and Recovery and Mother/Baby unit and supporting services remain open. Rooms For Less: The store is closed.

Land Between the Lakes: Golden Pond Visitor Center and Planetarium will be closed today.

First Thursday Art Walk: The Downtown Clarksville Association has postponed this Thursday’s ArtWalk. It is now scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 13, from 5-8 pm.

Broomball at Downtown Commons: The fourth annual Mayor versus the General Broomball game has been canceled. The Highway Department versus the City Street Department as well as the City Gas & Water versus the Clarksville Department of Electricity games are also canceled.
