Myrtle Vaughan Rye, age 95, of Clarksville, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at The Waterford of Sango surrounded by her loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by sharing stories, laughter and many fond memories.

A graveside service will be held at Tuesday, December 21, at 10:00 AM, at Greenwood Cemetery, with Rev. Valarie James officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 20, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home.

Myrtle was born in Stewart County on May 9, 1926 to the late William Leonard Vaughan and Mary Elizabeth Stalls Vaughan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Rye, one brother, William Leonard (WL) Vaughan; three sisters, Laree Manners, Florence May Vaughan, and Frances Elizabeth (Potsy) Fletcher; and one grandson, Tyler Chance Overstreet.

Survivors include her son, Len [Melessa] Rye; three daughters, Sherry [Mike] Paschall, Janice Rye, and Patty Rye; six grandchildren, Leonard [Rebecca] Rye, Michael [Nicole] Rye, Michiel Paschall, Morgan Paschall, Caitlin Overstreet, Logan Cardin; five great grandchildren, Emma Rye, Bryce Gordon, Henry Rye, Benson Rye, and Liam Rye.

Myrtle attended Business School in Nashville before working in First National Bank’s Trust Department and BF Goodrich. She completed her professional career at the side of her husband in his public accounting office. She was a lifelong member of Madison Street United Methodist Church serving on a variety of committees and in a variety of roles. She loved Halloween, Christmas, hamburgers, playing cards (bridge), swimming and basketball. She was an avid APSU Basketball fan after her playing days were over. Myrtle was a Brownie/Girl Scout leader, gardener and homemaker who loved to entertain. Her memory will bring smiles to those that share the stories of her card skills, love of practical jokes, and large appetite for life.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Austin Peay State University, Office of University Advancement, Rye Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 4417, Clarksville, TN 37040.

The family would also like to express sincere appreciation to Kathy at Comfort Care Hospice and The Waterford of Sango staff – Heather, Priscilla, Demi, Lisa and Lashay – for making this transition so peaceful.

Pallbearers will be Mark Fletcher, CB Fletcher, Leonard Rye, Michael Rye, Michiel Paschall, and Mike Paschall. Logan Cardin will serve as honorary pallbearer.
