CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – This year the turkey got a little wet, along with all of the more than 100 runners who ran in the rain for the Manna Cafe Pass the Turkey 5K, on Thanksgiving morning at Governors Square Mall.

The fundraising event is hosted and organized each year by the Clarksville Running Club to support Manna Cafe Ministries and Clarksville Loaves & Fishes.

The Pass the Turkey 5K with the Clarksville Running Club is not just a regular running event, as one runner puts on a turkey costume and takes off running just a few moments before the other runners are allowed to start, and those runners then, of course, try to pass the turkey.

Manna Cafe founder Kenny York said he was glad to see everyone turn out and support the event. Tamara Long with Loaves and Fishes said she appreciated all those who came out and made donations that will be put to good use, and reminded the community about their Jingle Bell Food Drive going on now through Dec. 11.

Both York and Long reminded everyone about sharing their support with Manna Cafe and Loves and Fishes on Giving Tuesday coming up this Tuesday, Nov. 29. Along with monetary donations, participants can gave food, shoes, gently used coats, sweaters, gloves, winter hats and blankets to Manna Cafe and Loaves and Fishes.
